This quarter we will be studying our "family history" by looking at the history of the American Presbyterian church. We will seek to better understand the history of God's faithful leading of his church in our country by looking at the people and events that make up that story. In studying the history of American Presbyterianism we pray that we will not only learn more about what has happened in the past, but also how God calls us to live as faithful Presbyterian Christians today.

God made up and gave us a "user's manual," the Bible. We need the Scriptures to instruct us how to operate our minds properly.

The largest of the (so-called) minor prophets, memorable because of his marriage to a prostitute, quoted by the apostles Peter, Paul, and whoever wrote Hebrews - Hosea is in places difficult but (in all its parts) ours for spiritual nourishment, and growth in grace and in the knowledge of Christ. Join us as we study this book together.

Join us this Fall as we dive into the Book of Malachi! So, why Malachi, the last book in our English Bible Old Testament? Because we will note of three major points that are imminently practical for you and I today: 1) God's Electing Love Is Always the Starting Point; 2) People Are Tempted to Cynicism When Life Is Hard; and 3) The Lord Honors Those Who Honor Him. Come, join us, and together, let's dig in!

Teacher: Dr. Hassing Age: 20s Room: #31 - 3rd Floor Axson Subject: "The Universe by Chance or Created"
We will use scientific discoveries from the "Book of Nature" to demonstrate that the Universe shows beautiful signs of design. It leads to the acknowledgement of a Master Designer. Major scientific discoveries in the last one hundred years have shown that what we see and experience could not have occurred by the materialist/secularist mechanism that all we see has happened as a result of random chemical reactions operating over long periods of time (billions of years). We will see the evidence for a beginning of matter, energy, space and time; we will see the incredible fine tuning of the physical properties of the universe; and we will look in detail at the beautiful complexity of biological life both in the individual cell as well as the whole organism. Thus we will show that science can refute the current scientific consensus of "time + chance".

Few biblical characters were given more challenging missions than Jeremiah, and this quarter, we'll look at the highs and lows of his life and message. For over four decades, Jeremiah stood as a lone minister of the Lord during Judah's darkest days. From oracles of destruction and exile to promises of a new covenant and a branch of David, the book of Jeremiah plays a central role in our understanding of both God's wrath and his mercy.

Subject: "A Biblical and a Christian Worldview"
After defining a proper biblical foundation for relating to the world we live in, we will apply it to a variety of ethical and moral challenges that confront us in our everyday life and culture.

Subject: "The Nicene Creed"
Do we believe in God as he really is? How are the Father, the Son, and the Spirit one God? The Nicene Creed of the year 325 shows us how the church faithfully confesses the eternal One-in-Three against all opposition.
